Head of Project Development

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for managing all phases of solar project development, including the identification, evaluation and realization of projects. The position will lead its own team and reports to the Managing Director.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the entire project development process from site selection to completion of development and financial close. Support projects until commercial operation date.
  • Management of project development consultants, project developers partners as well as international and local development stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of sites and projects being mindful of economic, administrative, environmental, contractual and technical considerations.
  • Perform due diligence of projects, as appropriate.
  • Work with local authorities to obtain planning permits, licenses and clearances as well as other necessary documentations such as, PPA, planning and construction permission, environmental impact assessments and grid connection studies with internal and external service providers.
  • Develop and maintain necessary personal networks to stakeholders at different levels that effect the successful development of projects such as public authorities on local, regional and national level as well as environmental groups, industry associations, grid operators or service providers.
  • Provide leadership by managing project development meetings, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure the efficient flow of material information, and maintaining project budgets.
  • Building up and heading the internal Project Development team.
  • Regular reporting of project development status and project pipelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering, Business or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the Renewable Energy sector preferably in similar project development process.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Italian renewable energy market and current legislation.
  • Good understanding of utility regulatory environment and renewable energy business.
  • Experience with PPAs and Project Financing will be considered as an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize competing time demands.
  • Self-directed with ability to work well / seamlessly with a larger team, including outside sales, design / electrical, interconnecting utility and host customer personnel .
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to travel ofte.

Office and Accounting Assistant

POSITION OVERVIEW

juwi is looking for a competent Office and Accounting Assistant to help with the organization and running of the daily administrative operations. Your primary task will be the keeping of the accounting,  on multiple companies but managing a variety of office support tasks will be up to you as well.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Booking of orders, invoices, bank and credit cards transactions.  F24, fiscal declarations, assistance in reporting.
  • Perform receptionist duties when needed.
  • Organize office and assist to optimize procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Maintain trusting relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or CFO.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A full mastering of the  accounting concept of “inheritance” and “competence” is a must.
  • Skill to work with a FY that is not overlapping with the CY.
  • Strong organizational skills so that to keep timely and with efficacy under order the accounting books.
  • Open to work under pressure during accounting closings.
  • Secondary school diploma in accounting (“ragioneria”) , achieved in Italy.
  • 3 years of experience in accounting.
  • A brief experience by a tax consultant would be a plus.
  • Intermediate skill in using excel.
  • B2 fluency in English, Italian mother tongue.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thorough understanding of office management procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

EPC Project Manager

Objectives:

The EPC Project Manager is responsible for project management during the execution of the Engineering Procurement and Construction contracts of these projects. He/ she is fully responsible and accountable for compliance, budget, cost, quality, schedule, risk, contracts, engineering, integration, stakeholders and security.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful execution of solar PV EPC projects from design through energisation and handover
  • Formal project management of EPC and subcontracts including technical, commercial and stakeholder aspects  
  • Manage and report on progress - schedule, costs, risk, quality etc. as and when required by the Company    
  • Responsible for schedule and achievement of contractual milestones
  • Responsible of costs, budget and liquidity/ cash flow
  • Ensure compliance with all the specifications and requirements included in EPC contracts and related project documents
  • Reporting to the Head of EPC, the EPC Project Manager will work with Project Development and Sales, Project Purchasing, Construction Management, Engineering, Consultants, Clients and Authorities to ensure compliant project execution
  • Work closely with Project development and Sales during the finalization of the selling process to coordinate internal work and support project sale
  • Implementation, compliance with juwi processes and standards
  • Adopt and improve where necessary the standard juwi project management processes to minimize project risk and maximize performance
  • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements applicable to the project
  • Responsible for handover to O&M and Plant owner for other departments as needed

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

  • Engineering/ Management qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in Electrical infrastructure project management (EPC) with overall responsibility.  At least 3 years Solar PV EPC project Management
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally (both suppliers and customers)
  • Demonstrable experience of project cost, schedule, risk, quality and technical management and control
  • Experience of working autonomously, as the position requires leadership, decision making and problem solving 
  • Conversant  with project management tools i.e. MS Project & MS Office, etc. and best practise
  • A good understanding of the electrical grid and grid connection process
  • Conversant  with health and safety requirements, commissioning and energization of substations & Solar PV plants
  • Experience of evaluating processes and making appropriate improvements in line with business needs
  • Acquaintance with PMI standards or alternatively industrial standards (to be proven)
  • Experience of contract management and knowledge of standard contract forms – NEC, FIDIC, etc.
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrable ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate in a culturally diverse international environment
  • Team player with demonstrable leadership qualities

  • Experience of working within the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Program and/or executing projects related to energy supply the mining sector
  • A formal project management qualification
  • Professionally registered Engineer or Project Manager

  • Location : Preferred our South African office in Cape Town, alternative in our headquarter in Germany or Office in Greece or Italy
  • Regular national and international travel will be required in line with business requirements
